'Everything Everywhere all at Once' triumphs and Guillermo Del Toro wins again at the Oscars of 2023

“Everything Everywhere all at Once” won Best Picture, one of seven Oscar statuettes this film received at the 95th Academy of Motion Picture, Art and Sciences awards, celebrated on March 12th, 2023, in Los Angeles, California, where Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro also won an Oscar, this time for Best Animated Picture, for “Pinocchio.”

“Everything Everywhere all at Once” also received trophies in the categories of Original Screenplay and Best Directing, which went to its creators Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (collectively known as the Daniels), while Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan, all of them won for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.

Brendan Fraser won Best Actor, for his performance as a morbidly obese man trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter, in “The Whale,” while Sarah Polley won Best Adapted Screenplay, for “Women Talking.”

“All Quiet on the Western Front,” an adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque’s novel about trench life during World War I, picked up four Oscars, including the trophy for Best International Feature, while “Avatar: the Way of the Water”, won for Best Achievement in Visual Effects.

“Navalny,” a look at Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, won for Best Documentary Feature. Yulia Navalny, the imprisoned politician’s wife, walked to the stage to receive the award.

'Todo en Todas Partes al Mismo Tiempo' arrasa en los premios Oscar 2023 y Guillermo Del Toro triunfa de nuevo

 “Todo en todas partes al mismo tiempo” obtuvo el trofeo a Mejor Película, mientras que el realizador mexicano Guillermo Del Toro volvió a ganar otra estatuilla, ahora por la película animada “Pinocho”, durante la edición anual número 95 de los premios Oscar, de la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas de Estados Unidos, la cual tuvo lugar el 12 de marzo del 2023, en el Teatro Dolby de Los Ángeles, California.

 “Todo en Todas Partes al Mismo Tiempo” se llevó la noche al ganar siete estatuillas, incluyendo Mejor Actriz (Michelle Yeoh), Actor de Reparto (Ke Huy Quan), Actriz de Reparto (Jamie Lee Curtis), y Mejor Dirección (Daniel Kwan y Daniel Scheinert).

El guionista, productor y director mexicano Guillermo Del Toro volvió a ganar el Oscar, esta vez en la categoría de Mejor Película de Animación, por “Pinocho”, producida por Netflix, con lo que sumó otra estatuilla a su colección.

Brendan Fraser se llevó el Oscar al Mejor Actor por su interpretación de un profesor de Inglés con obesidad mórbida, en la película “The Whale”, dirigida Darren Aronofsky.

La película alemana de guerra “Sin Novedad en el Frente”, otra producción de Netflix, dirigida por Edward Berger, obtuvo la presea por Mejor Película Internacional.

Sarah Polley ganó el premio a Mejor Guión Adaptado, por su película “Women Talking”, mientras que el filme “Navalny” se llevó la estatuilla dorada por Mejor Película Documental.

'CODA', 'Duna', Kenneth Branagh y el filme japonés 'Drive my Car', ganan los principales trofeos en los premios Oscar del 2022

El filme dramático “CODA”, sobre una joven que sueña con tener una carrera musical y quien además es la única persona oyente en una familia de sordos, fue la gran sorpresa al ganar como Mejor Película, en la entrega anual número 94 de los premios Oscar, de la Academia de Arte y Ciencias Cinematográficas de Estados Unidos, ceremonia que tuvo lugar el 27 de marzo del 2022, en Los Angeles, California. 

“CODA” también ganó en las categorías de Mejor Actor de Reparto (Troy Kotsur) y Mejor Guión Adaptado. Por su parte, Jane Campion ganó por Mejor Dirección, por la película western “The Power of the Dog”, una realización de Netflix. 

El largometraje épico de ciencia ficción “Duna”, de Denis Villeneuve, basado en el libro de Frank Herbert, ganó un total de seis estatuillas, incluyendo Mejores Efectos Visuales, Mejor Edición Fílmica, Mejor Diseño de Producción y Mejor Sonido. 

Jessica Chastain (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye”) y Will Smith (“King Richard”) ambos ganaron trofeos como Mejor Actriz y Mejor Actor, de manera respectiva, mientras que Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) ganó como Mejor Actriz de Reparto. El filme japonés “Drive My Car”, dirigido por Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, ganó como Mejor Larometraje Internacional. 

Después de haber sido nominado en seis ocasiones en el transcurso de los años, el guionista, director y actor irlandés Kenneth Branagh, por fin ganó su primer Oscar y fue en la categoría de Mejor Guión Original, por “Belfast”, un filme muy personal para él, ya que trata sobre las experiencias de un niño y su familia irlandesa trabajadora, durante la tumultuosa década de 1960 en Belfast, Irlanda.

'CODA', 'Dune', Kenneth Branagh and Japan's 'Drive my Car', win the top prizes at the Oscars of 2022

“CODA”, a dramatic film about a young woman who dreams about a carreer in music and who is also the only hearing person in her deaf family, was the surprise winner of the top Best Picture category, in the 94th annual Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Science -the Oscar- awards, which took place on March 27, 2022 in Los Angeles, California. 

“CODA” also won Oscars for Best Supporting Actor (Troy Kotsur) and Best Adapted Screenplay. Jane Campion won for Best Achievement in Directing, for the dramatic western “The Power of the Dog”, which was made and produced by the streaming service Netflix. 

Denis Villeneuve's epic science fiction feature film “Dune”, based on Frank Herbert's book, won a total of six Oscars, including Best Visual Effects, Best Film Editing, Best Production Design and Best Sound.

After being nominated six times over the course of the years, Irish-born writer, director and actor Kenneth Branagh finally won his first Oscar, for Best Original Screenplay for “Belfast”, a very personal film for him, about a young boy and his working-class Irish family, and their struggles during the tumultuous late 1960's in Belfast.
