And the Oscar goes to Frances McDormand, Gary Oldman, ‘The Shape of Water’ and ‘A Fantastic Woman’, among other winners

The romantic sci-fi tale about a mute woman who falls in love with a strange half human half anfibian being, “The Shape of Water”, won 4 Oscars on Sunday night, including Best Picture and Best Director for Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro; The dark comedy “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” took home two Oscars, one for Frances McDormand and the other one for Sam Rockwell; Gary Oldman won in the Best Actor category for playing Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour”; Allison Janney won for Best Supporting Actress for “I, Tonya”; the sci-fi sequel “Blade Runner 2049” won for Best Visual Effects and the Best Foreign Language Film winner, “A Fantastic Woman”, gave Chile its first Oscar, among other wins which took place in the event.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences celebrated its 90th annual Oscar awards ceremony on Sunday March 4th, 2018, in Los Angeles, California, honoring the best in movies of 2017. This event was hosted by late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. Long and short feature films, actors, filmmakers and technicians received Oscar statuettes in a total of 24 different categories.
