And the nominees for the 2018 Oscar Awards are...

On Tuesday January 23rd, 2018, the nominations for the Oscar awards, of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences to the best in cinema of 2017, were announced. The romantic / sci-fi film “The Shape of Water”, directed by Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, received 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (Del Toro) and Best Actress (Sally Hawkins); the WWII drama “Dunkirk” received 8 nominations and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”, got 7 nominations, including Best Actress for favorite Frances McDormand. Woman director Greta Gerwig got nominated for Best Direction for “Lady Bird”. Jordan Peele’s horror film “Get Out” received 4 surprising nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor (Daniel Kaluuya). The superhero film “Logan” got nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. “Blade Runner 2049” received 5 nominations including Best Visual Effects.
Late night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel will return as host for the 90th Annual Academy Awards. This year, the telecast will begin a half hour earlier, airing live at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 4, 2018, on ABC.
