‘Green Book’, Olivia Colman, Rami Malek, Alfonso Cuarón and Spike Lee took home Oscars

The fact-based road-trip drama about an Italian-American driver and his African-American passenger and boss, who’s a renowned pianist, “Green Book”, was the big surprise on Oscar night last Sunday, when it took home the Best Picture prize, defeating favorites like “Roma” and “BlacKkKlansman”.
Another surprise of the award ceremony was Olivia Colman (“The Favourite”), who won in the Best Actress category, defeating seven times nominated Glenn Close (“The Wife”). Meanwhile, Rami Malek (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) won the Best Actor trophy for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury, the late front man of rock group Queen.
Mexican film “Roma” won three Oscars, including Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director (Alfonso Cuarón) and Best Cinematography (also awarded to Cuarón).
Celebrated director Spike Lee won the second Oscar of his career, along with the screenwriters of “BlacKkKlansman”, who took home the statuette for Best Adapted Screenplay.   
The film about astronaut Neil Armstrong and the first Moon landing, “First Man”, won for Best Visual Effects, while pop star Lady Gaga won for Best Original Song for “Shallow”, theme of the romantic drama “A Star is Born”.
The 91st annual Oscar ceremony took place on Sunday February the 24th, 2019, in the Dolby Theater, at the Hollywood and Highland Center in Los Angeles, California. The Oscar is awarded each year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to the best in cinema in the U.S.
