'Roma's' Alfonso Cuarón and 'Eight Grade's' Bo Burnham both triumph at the Directors Guild Awards


On February 2nd, 2019, at the 71st Annual Directors Guild of America awards, which took place at the Hollywood and Highland Center’s Ray Dolby Ballroom, Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón took home the top prize for “Roma”, while “Eighth Grade” director Bo Burnham was the event’s big surprise, winning the First-Time Feature award over “A Star Is Born” director Bradley Cooper.
